How License Keys Work
- Each license key is tied to one domain/installation
- Your license key is sent via email after purchase
- Free tier users receive a FREE-TRIAL license automatically
- Pro licenses are valid for one year from activation
Activating Your License
- Log in to your FamilyCodex installation as admin
- Go to Settings → License
- Enter your license key from your purchase email
- Click Activate License
- Your Pro features will be unlocked immediately
Transferring a License
If you need to move your installation to a new domain, please contact support.
We can deactivate your old license and issue a new one for your new domain.
Upgrading to Pro
Unlock all features with a Pro subscription.
How to Upgrade
- Visit our pricing page
- Click Get Pro
- Complete the checkout process via Stripe
- You'll receive your license key via email
- Activate the license in your FamilyCodex settings

- Your subscription renews automatically each year
- You'll receive a reminder email before renewal
- Cancel anytime from your customer portal
Invoices & Receipts
All invoices and receipts are available in your customer portal.
You'll also receive email receipts for each payment.

How to Cancel
- Log in to your customer portal
- Go to Licenses
- Click Cancel Subscription
- Your Pro features will remain active until the end of your billing period
After Cancellation
Your data remains safe. After cancellation, your installation will revert to the Free tier limits.
You can still access all your data and export it via GEDCOM at any time.

Customer Portal vs FamilyCodex Installation
You have two separate accounts:
- Customer Portal (familycodex.org/portal) - For managing licenses, downloads, and support tickets
- Your Installation (yoursite.com) - For managing your family tree data
Changing Your Password
For the Customer Portal: Click "Forgot Password" on the login page.
For your installation: Go to Settings → Profile → Change Password.
Updating Email Address
To update your email address, please contact support with your current and new email addresses.
